    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Workers will get to experience the Maine outdoors daily via trail and river. Opportunities to learn include trail design and creation, trail maintenance practices and carpentry work including footbridges, sign creation, and kiosk design. Workers will also get to learn about Maine's culture and values for protecting nature.

    These positions will assist in trail work on 70 miles of trail and over 15 preserves. The work will involve general trail maintenance, trail creation projects through the lens of environmental impact and carpentry projects including bridges and kiosks.

    We can provide housing in a furnished cabin on one of our preserves. The cabin's amenities include a full kitchen, electricity, WIFI, running water/hot water, 1 bath with shower, and two twin beds. The preserve sits along the snaking St. George river and has 4 miles of trails to explore from the front door. Workers will get a weekly allowance to purchase groceries.

    With their time off, the area has a lot to offer this time of year. The cabin is in the northern part of our watershed, a short 20 minutes from the coast where there are numerous beaches and quarries to swim, mountains and trails to hike and towns to explore. The local coastal towns of Camden, Rockport, and Rockland have many restaurants, activities and events going on weekly in the summer. It is required for the position that the worker comes with a vehicle as the trails and preserves are spread out amongst 10 different towns. We will offer mileage reimbursement for any driving that is done for our organization.
